All proceeds from this event benefit NMDN, and Rio Bravo Brewing Co. will donate $1 from every drink purchased to support our work. Non-Alcoholic drinks, like house brewed root beer & cream soda and Urban Mama kombucha are also available.

Join us for Death Over Drafts, a welcoming, conversation-based event where we gather over drinks to talk openly, thoughtfully, and even joyfully about death and life. Using The Death Deck, a playful set of thought-provoking conversation cards, we’ll spark curious, lively discussions in a relaxed, supportive space. No lectures, no pressure—just real conversation and human connection.

This event will also feature Show & Tale, Passed & Present. Have you kept mementos of your loved ones lost? Photos, aprons, clothing, kitchen gadgets, paintings, jewelry, locks of hair, baby teeth, ashes…? Do they help you keep the memory of your loved one alive?

Do you keep cards, letters and thank you notes that you read, over and over, because they inspire you to persevere and keep going? Or do you have a favorite recipe you make when you’re feeling down or want to remember? Every Thing has a story.

Show & Tale is a community-based story-sharing platform founded in 2012 by Martie McNabb. It transforms the childhood concept of "show and tell" into an interactive, intergenerational experience where participants share the personal history behind physical objects in order to create deeper connections & community while exploring the true meaning of legacy.

The first 10 people who register and complete the Show & Tale form will be invited to share with the group. Participants are encouraged to bring an object that belonged to a loved one who has passed away and to share the memory of that person, along with the story of the object they left behind. No judges, no prizes, no competition. And no need to practice!
