New legislation may soon expand access to psilocybin-assisted therapy for New Mexicans facing death anxiety and depression associated with advanced and terminal illness. This movement has included a series of federal lawsuits invoking Right to Try laws, as well as a petition to reschedule psilocybin from Schedule I to Schedule II. That petition is expected to reach the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and FDA for evaluation in early 2025.
Join us for an insightful discussion with Dr. Sunil Aggarwal, the Seattle palliative care physician leading this petition, along with Dr. Van Warren, Dr. Lida Fatemi, and Death Doula Danielle Slupesky, as we explore what these developments could mean for patients, families, and practitioners in New Mexico.
Topics include:
How Right to Try laws intersect with psychedelic-assisted therapies
What rescheduling psilocybin could mean for medical use and research access
The role of palliative care and death doulas in this evolving therapeutic landscape
