About the event

Join pioneering death educator and author Gail Rubin, CT, for a special evening marking the launch of her new book, 98.6 Mortality Movies to See Before You Die. This unique event pairs film and conversation to explore end-of-life issues in a meaningful, accessible way.

The evening will feature a screening of the 90-minute documentary “Other Side” (2025). The film follows Lynda Bluestein, a Connecticut woman with terminal cancer, who undertook a groundbreaking legal battle to access Vermont’s Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) law as a non-resident. She opened doors for others while navigating her own end-of-life journey. The film intimately shows one family's experience with MAID.

Following the film, Gail Rubin and death educator Jane Westbrook with End of Life Options New Mexico will lead a discussion on Medical Aid in Dying in New Mexico, offering insights and answering questions.

Popcorn will be served! Copies of 98.6 Mortality Movies to See Before You Die will be available for purchase, and Gail will be signing books after the program.
